COACHES

Dom Chelini

Passionate distance runner who wants to keep improving oneself and share that passion with others. Although I ran track and cross country all four years of high school at Junipero Serra, I credit my beginning of learning about athletic discipline and pain tolerance training to six years of Pop Warner football for the Bayside Broncos. I had great coaches in both sports, Jim Garrity, Will McCarthy and Ron DiMaggio. having coaching experience myself with the 2014 cross country season with NDNU in Belmont and ongoing personal training projects.

After several years without training. In the fall of 2013 I decided to start running again to lose weight and again get fit. Soon I rediscovered my love of running and got back into the competitive nature of the sport. I have lost 40 pounds through a dilegent training program and have gone from a 1:30 half marathon to a 1:16 in less than two years time. With continued training and hard work I am looking forward to the spring racing season and a hopeful sub 1:16 half marathon.

Hi and welcome to our ARM Running for Success Program. I've been running for 48 years and to this day I still remember the first time I witnessed a road race. It was the summer of 1968 in my hometown of Norwich, Ct. The race's name was the Rose Art's Festival 10.6 mile road race. I can still visualize 68 Boston Marathon winner coming down Broadway to the finish line and winning this event. Not far behind was 57 Boston Marathon winner and great loved friend of mine John Kelley. In 3rd was Norwich's greatest long distance runner Tim Smith with his signature sunglasses on. I was now hooked and to this day I still trot down the roads and trails of the Bay Area in California.

I attended Johnson & Wales University on a cross country scholarship. The program had many greats from the past including Bob Hodge 3rd Boston Marathon, Vin Fleming 5th Boston Marathon, Wayne Jacob 13th Boston Marathon. After college I competed for Reebok / Mohegan Striders and was also coordinator for this sponsored team. I also represented Marathon Tours in the Bermuda International 10k and the JWAC -- Johnson & Wales Athletic Club during the later part of my racing career.

Looking back on my career I have two favorite races, the Boston Marathon and Manchester Road Race held annualy in Manchester, Ct. Living a runners lifestyle has provided me great health to go along with a circle of friends of which I consider my lifeline to a positive, energized and great life.

It's now time for me to return to the running community for what it has done for me. I look very forward to working with all members and enhancing a great running experience.

Billy
